Yaron Mayer, Ambassador of Israel to Vietnam, visited Tuoi Tre (Youth) newspaper's headquarters in Ho Chi Minh City on Wednesday.

As Vietnam and Israel are celebrating the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations, the latter wishes to commemorate this milestone by educating the Vietnamese people about the two nations' cooperation in areas of education, agriculture, innovation, culture, and people-to-people exchanges, while also enhancing chances for expanded commerce and cooperation, Ambassador Mayer said.

Editor-in-Chief of Tuoi Tre Le The Chu expressed his joy at observing the development of the friendship between Vietnam and Israel during the past 30 years.

Tuoi Tre might serve as a bridge between the two nations, Chu said.

The daily is willing to work with the Israeli Embassy in Vietnam on projects and events including youth networking, intercultural exchanges, and other chances for development by disseminating knowledge about Israel's people, culture, and nation.

Chu added that Ho Chi Minh City is particularly interested in high-tech agriculture and that Israel is a powerful nation in this area.

The city has planned trips to study Israel's agricultural model, and the program to send students there for training and to work in high-tech agriculture has been quite successful.

Young Vietnamese people are welcomed in Israel for both study and travel, according to Ambassador Mayer.

In addition to boosting the two nations' respective images to draw in reciprocal tourists, the ambassador expects that a direct flight between Vietnam and Israel will soon be available.

Chu is also looking forward to a direct flight between the two nations.

He suggested that Israel make it easier for Vietnamese tourists to travel there by offering favourable visa policies.

Vietnam is a close partner of Israel, according to Ambassador Mayer, who has intended for the two nations' relationship to prosper in the future.

In December of last year, Tuoi Tre hosted its annual Pho Day celebration in northern Nam Dinh Province, in which Ambassador Mayer took part.

Ambassador Mayer told Chu that the event was a great success and that all of the pho dishes were delicious.
