A delegation of French experts and businesses in coordination with representatives of Ho Chi Minh City authorities took a water bus tour on Tuesday afternoon to survey the Saigon River for investment purposes.

The French delegation was headed by Helene Peskine, secretary-general at Plan Urbanisme Construction Architecture (PUCA), a French interministerial research and experimentation program which supports innovation and scientific and technical dissemination in the fields of spatial planning, housing, construction, and architectural and urban design.

The Association of Vietnamese Scientists and Experts - AVSE Global connected and introduced the French delegation to the city.

The river survey tour was also joined by Tran Quang Lam, director of the municipal Department of Transport; Tran Trung Kien, deputy director of the municipal Department of Planning and Architecture; Truong Minh Huy Vu, deputy head of the Ho Chi Minh City Institute for Development Studies.

During the water bus tour, the participants were briefed on the Saigon River, as well as planning ideas and orientations to fulfill the potential growth of the iconic river and the riverside areas.

Lam expected that the delegation would gain more insights about the river to think of investment projects on a par with their strengths and the city’s orientations for growth.

In mid-2022, the city’s Party Chief Nguyen Van Nen, chairman Phan Van Mai, and other officials  along with Tuoi Tre (Youth) newspaper representatives joined another water bus tour to survey the Saigon River.

The municipal Party chief said that the southern metropolis should work on the planning and exploitation of the river after the field trip.
