Police from Thanh Hoa Province in north-central Vietnam smashed a ring transporting and trading 14 kilograms of synthetic drugs from neighboring Laos, arresting three suspects.
Police officers caught Vang A Tung, residing in Sai Khao Village, Muong Ly Commune, Muong Lat District, Thanh Hoa Province, red-handed transporting 14 kilograms of synthetic drugs from Laos to Thanh Hoa, the provincial police department said on Tuesday morning.
Tung led a drug-trafficking ring in the Vietnam-Laos border areas.
Police later detained Nguyen Minh Phong, 30, and Nguyen Thanh Tung, 31, both living in Tan Uyen Town, Binh Duong Province, a neighbor of Ho Chi Minh City, for their alleged involvement in the ring.

The results from a preliminary investigation showed that Tung is familiar with the border areas between Vietnam and Laos, so he colluded with some Lao people living in villages there.
He also joined hands with some people in Binh Duong and Ho Chi Minh City to transport drugs from Laos to Thanh Hoa and then to the two southern localities for consumption.
They regularly changed vehicles and drug delivery time and venues.
They mainly delivered drugs late at night or early in the morning to avoid police attention.
