A blaze broke out at a three-storey house in Nha Trang City under Khanh Hoa Province, south-central Vietnam, claiming the lives of three people on Saturday.
The ground floor of the house on Nguyen Thien Thuan Street in Loc Tho Ward caught fire at 0:30 am on the same day.
The flames rapidly ripped through the entire property, which covers 90 square meters, said a representative of the ward’s administration.
When some locals discovered it, the inferno was spreading to two neighboring houses, creating a black column of smoke.
Nine people were in the house at that time.
Due to the fierce flames and no exits, the victims climbed to the second floor to cry for help.
The province’s firefighters and fire trucks were quickly dispatched to the site for rescue and extinguishing operations.
The fire was put out at 4:00 am, but three people, including a 70-year-old man and his two grandchildren, aged 8 and 5, were stuck in the house and passed away.
The police are cordoning off the house to investigate the cause of the blaze.
