Police have apprehended 10 more gang members behind armed attacks on two police stations in Vietnam’s Central Highlands province of Dak Lak, taking the total number of suspects involved in the fatal raid to 26 as of 11:30 am on Monday.
Several weapons, including rifles, were also confiscated, Lieutenant General To An Xo, spokesperson of the Ministry of Public Security, told Tuoi Tre (Youth) newspaper.
An armed gang of many unidentified members attacked two police headquarters of Ea Tieu and Ea Ktur Communes in Cu Kuin District on Sunday morning, leaving four police officers dead and other officers and locals wounded.
As such, the Ministry of Public Security directed the police in Dak Lak Province and other relevant forces to hunt for these gang members.
The ministry also called on locals in Cu Kuin District and neighboring localities to stay calm and follow the instructions of the authorities.
The ministry encouraged those who know the gang or have information about gang members to contact the nearest police station.
At noon on the same day, police officers arrested six gang members, who reside in Ayun Pa in Gia Lai Province, and in Krong Buk and Cu Mgar in Dak Lak Province.
On Sunday night, police officers caught 10 more suspects, raising the total number of participants in the armed attacks to 16 then, while two locals held hostage were rescued.
