The transnational road passenger transport service connecting Vietnam’s Ma Lu Thang border gate in Lai Chau Province and China’s Jin Shuihe border gate in Yunnan Province was officially inaugurated following a ceremony held on Tuesday.
The operation of the transportation service is entrusted to two companies, one from Vietnam and the other from China, according to the Vietnam News Agency.
Two 29-seater buses belonging to a Vietnamese company will shuttle between the two locations on a daily basis, with a frequency of 30 round trips per month.
The daily schedule includes a departure from Lai Chau City in the namesake Vietnamese province at 6:00 am and a return journey from the Central Bus Station of Jinping County in Yunnan Province at 3:00 pm.

In Jinping County, the bus leaves for Lai Chau at 8:30 am and returns from Lai Chau to Jinping at 2:30 pm.
The commencement of the service aligns with the protocol for the execution of a bilateral road transport agreement signed by Vietnam and China on October 11, 2011.
The Vietnam News Agency quoted Nguyen Van Huong, deputy director of the Lai Chau Department of Transport, as saying that the newly established route will effectively meet the transportation needs of border residents and enhance tourism for both countries.
Huong also expressed optimism about fostering more extensive transportation cooperation between the two provinces, aiming to contribute to the sustainable development of the Vietnam-China friendship and their comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership.
