A woman in Nghe An Province and another in neighboring Ha Tinh Province, both in north-central Vietnam, recently gave birth to triplets.
Doctors at the Nghe An Obstetrics and Pediatrics Hospital on Thursday allowed the two women to be discharged from the hospital a week after their caesarean sections.
Both Phan Thi Tham, 31, from Duc Tho District, Ha Tinh Province, and Nguyen Thi Bao Yen, a resident of Tan Ky District, Nghe An Province, conceived naturally and gave birth to triplet girls.
The two mothers were determined to keep their three children despite risks during their pregnancy.
When both of them were some 32 weeks pregnant, they visited the Nghe An Obstetrics and Pediatrics Hospital for medical check-ups.
Both showed signs that they would likely have premature births, thus prompting doctors to ask them to stay at the hospital.

On Wednesday last week, when Tham was in her 36th week of the pregnancy and Yen was 36 weeks and two days pregnant, doctors decided to perform caesarean sections to deliver the babies.
Yen’s triplets, born in the morning, weighed 2.1 kilograms, 2.2 kilograms, and 2.2 kilograms.
Tham’ surgery took place in the afternoon and her babies weighed 1.5 kilograms, 1.7 kilograms, and 2.0 kilograms.
The odds of naturally conceiving triplets are around 1 in 8,000 cases, according to doctors at the Nghe An Obstetrics and Pediatrics Hospital.
