1 killed, 12 injured in passenger car-truck crash in Vietnam’s Dak Lak

A collision between a truck and a 16-seat passenger car in Dak Lak Province in Vietnam’s Central Highlands region on Sunday claimed the life of a person and injured 12 others, a local official confirmed the same day.

The accident occurred at about 1:30 pm on a bypass in Buon Ho Town, Dak Lak Province. Prior to the accident, the two vehicles had been traveling in opposite directions.

One victim died on the spot.

Those injured were rushed to Thien Hanh Hospital in Buon Ma Thuot City, Dak Lak for emergency treatment.

A hospital leader said a person was hospitalized with a traumatic brain injury and was in critical condition.

The remaining 11 patients are under intensive care and their injuries are not life-threatening.

The two vehicles were badly damaged after the accident.

At 3:30 pm on Sunday, police in Buon Ho Town and neighboring Krong Buk District were still examining the scene and regulating traffic in the area.

They are investigating the cause of the accident.
