A series of rear-end collisions involving five cars occurred in Soc Trang Province, southern Vietnam on Thursday afternoon, leading to several hours of traffic congestion.
There were no reported casualties, but the total damages amounted to hundreds of millions of dong (VND100 million = $4,090), local police said on the same day.
The pile-up took place at 1:45 pm on a segment of Quan Lo Phung Hiep-Ca Mau Street passing through Nga Nam Town.
The incident involved a car driven by Ho Phuoc Dung, a resident of Ho Chi Minh City, being rear-ended by another vehicle operated by Huynh Tan Tai, who hails from Can Tho City in southern Vietnam.
These two vehicles were then rear-ended by three other cars, the Vietnam News Agency reported.
While no casualties were reported in the accident, the vehicles involved suffered extensive damage, with the total estimated cost of repairs reaching hundreds of millions of Vietnamese dong.
The incident resulted in severe traffic congestion in the area for several hours.
Local traffic police promptly responded to the scene of the rear-end collision to alleviate the traffic flow.
