A water buffalo was gunned down on Thursday afternoon after the aggressive animal butted an 80-year-old woman to death and injured two other locals in Le Thuy District under Quang Binh Province, located in north-central Vietnam, an official said on Friday.

The buffalo ran loose after it was bought by T.M.Q., who lives in Loc Thuy Commune under the district, a few days ago.

The leader of the Loc Thuy People’s Committee said that the commune administration mobilized forces to mow down the attacking water buffalo.

The incident unfolded at 4:30 pm on Thursday.

While L.T.D. was walking along a local road in Tuy Loc Hamlet, Loc Thuy Commune, she was butted several times by an aggressive male buffalo, leading to her death on the spot.

Residents discovered the incident, but tried in vain to prevent the animal.

Its owner and another local chased the fierce buffalo away, but they were wounded severely by the animal.

They were promptly rushed to a nearby hospital for emergency treatment.

Due to its ferocity, the local administration decided to gun down the buffalo to reduce casualties.
