Authorities in Can Tho City, southern Vietnam seem confused about how to handle four-wheel electric vehicles which bear no license plate and have run on the streets in Ninh Kieu District over the past few days, saying that they need to review regulations.
There are two types of vehicles, each equipped with either one or three benches.
The three-bench vehicles resemble the electric vehicles currently utilized by the city for transporting tourists.
Nguyen Dang Khoa, deputy director of the municipal Department of Transport, said the agency currently manages 21 four-wheel vehicles which are used to transport tourists.
The new four-wheel electric vehicles have yet to be registered.
A leader of the motor vehicle management team within the municipal traffic police department mentioned that the vehicles lacked certificates or license plates for circulation.
A leader from the traffic violation team of the municipal traffic police informed Tuoi Tre (Youth) newspaper that vehicles must undergo registration for circulation.
The traffic police officer added that the team must review regulations to address these vehicles as they have never faced such a situation before.
