-- Vietnamese Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh left Hanoi on Monday morning for the 15th World Economic Forum (WEF) Annual Meeting of the New Champions in Dalian City, Liaoning Province, China, and working sessions there from June 24 to 27.

-- Police in Hanoi on Sunday evening announced the dismantling of an illegal drug operation, seizing over 207,085 grams of heroin, 112,052 grams of methamphetamine, a military gun, 23 bullets, and various related items and documents, according to the Vietnam News Agency.

Business

-- Vietnam has become the top garment exporter to the U.S., surpassing China and Bangladesh, with a total revenue of US$6 billion from January to May, according to the Vietnam National Textile and Garment Group (Vinatex).

-- The People’s Committee of the Central Highlands province of Lam Dong has approved a starting price of approximately VND36.5 billion ($1.43 million) for a 10-year lease of the Thuy Ta restaurant land, situated on an island in the iconic Xuan Huong Lake in Da Lat City.

-- The budget revenue of the Ho Chi Minh City Customs Department from imported automobiles in the first half of this year is estimated to have decreased significantly by 51.78 percent compared to the same period in 2023, amounting to a drop of up to VND5.9 trillion ($231.76 million).

-- The Central Highlands provinces raised several concerns regarding mineral planning, highlighting how these issues have led to economic stagnation in the region during a conference in Da Lat City, Lam Dong Province on Sunday.

-- Prof. Nguyen Thi Kim Thanh, who has Vietnamese heritage and works at University College London in the UK, was officially elected as an academician of Academia Europaea in late April, the Vietnam News Agency reported on Monday morning.
