Hanoi verifies report of worker watering trees amid heavy rain

The Department of Construction in Hanoi told Tuoi Tre (Youth) newspaper on Monday that it would check and handle a case in which a worker used water from a tank truck to water trees on a street while it was raining heavily in the capital city.
An image of the case has surfaced on social media and sparked public outrage.
In particular, the worker watered trees on a Nguyen Trai Street section in Thanh Xuan District.
Many netizens criticized the act, saying that it was unnecessary and wasted resources and money.
A leader of the office of the municipal Department of Construction told Tuoi Tre that the department had tasked relevant agencies with verifying the case.
The department would reprimand all workers involved to prevent such actions from recurring, the official added.
