Politics

– Leaders of foreign parties and countries, including Singapore, Thailand, India, and Australia, have extended their congratulations to State President To Lam on his election as General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee.

– Vietnam and Japan agreed to enhance cooperation in various fields such as digital transformation, innovation, semiconductors, artificial intelligence, training, investment, trade, and technology transfer, heard the 12th meeting of the Vietnam-Japan Cooperation Committee, co-chaired by Vietnamese Minister of Foreign Affairs Bui Thanh Son and his Japanese counterpart Kamikawa Yoko in Tokyo on Wednesday.

– The Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Wednesday advised Vietnamese citizens to avoid non-essential travel to Bangladesh due to complicated protests in the country. 

– Lao Prime Minister Sonexay Siphandone has hailed the collaboration between the Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology and Laos' ministries and agencies, especially the Lao Ministry of Technology and Communications, reported the Vietnam News Agency.

Society

– A 8.5-km elevated section of the Nhon-Hanoi Station metro line, the second of its kind in Hanoi, starts commercial operations on Thursday morning, after nearly 14 years of construction, the Hanoi Metropolitan Railway Management Board, the investor of the project, said in a press release on Wednesday.

– The director of the Healthcare Center of Muong Lat District in north-central Thanh Hoa Province said on Wednesday night that the district had put under control the diphtheria outbreak in Muong Lat Town three days after the first case was detected.

– A pile-up involving five vehicles occurred on an expressway leading to Thang Long Bridge in Hanoi on Wednesday afternoon, resulting in several hours of traffic congestion.

– Authorities in Binh Dinh Province, south-central Vietnam aim to spend over VND900 billion (US$35.5 million) growing trees in the province’s urban areas by 2030, an official said on Wednesday.

-- Vietnamese police collaborated with their Lao counterparts to dismantle an international online fraud ring, resulting in the arrest of 155 Vietnamese scammers, an officer reported on Wednesday.
