The misty city of Da Lat in the Central Highlands province of Lam Dong is among the nine most affordable Asian destinations for travelers for the August through September travel period, according to digital travel platform Agoda.

With an average room rate of US$57 per night between August 15 and September 30, Da Lat, which boasts a cool climate and beautiful landscapes, stood at the fifth place on the list.

Thailand’s Hat Yai topped the ranking at $36 per night, followed by Indonesia's Yogyakarta at $38 and Malaysia's Kuching at $54.

Other destinations on the list include Japan’s Narita ($58), India’s Goa ($66), Taiwan’s Taichung ($96), and South Korea’s Busan ($113).

According to Agoda, Da Lat has long been one of Vietnam’s most popular destinations, drawing in visitors who wish to explore the Valley of Love, the Da Lat Flower Garden, and the historic Da Lat Railway Station.

“Adventure seekers will also appreciate [Da Lat’s] proximity to Lang Biang Mountain, perfect for those who enjoy hiking and outdoor activities,” the platform said.

Agoda’s ranking pushed Da Lat past Thua Thien-Hue Province’s Hue City as Vietnam’s cheapest travel destination, with the latter having been named the country’s most affordable place in April.

To compile the list, Agoda analyzed booking data from June 15 to July 7 in order to determine the most affordable average room rates for travelers to stay at destinations across Asia from the middle of this month until the end of September.

As travelers seek to recharge before the final months of the year, this latest Agoda ranking is meant to help consumers make informed decisions and enjoy memorable experiences without breaking the bank, American travel magazine Travel + Leisure cited Vu Ngoc Lam, Agoda’s country director in Vietnam.

“Whether it’s for a quick getaway or an extended vacation, these affordable destinations offer a variety of unique experiences that cater to all types of travelers,” Lam stated.

Travel experts believe that the trend of budget travel will continue to grow in popularity, especially in light of current challenges faced by the global economy.
