A six-year-old boy was found alive on Wednesday after being lost for five days in a forest in northern Vietnam, a local official confirmed to Tuoi Tre (Youth) newspaper the same day.
The administration in Van Yen District, Yen Bai Province reported on Wednesday that at 10:00 am that morning, local resident Ly Van Nang found the lost boy, D.V.L., at a site some six kilometers from where he had disappeared in the forest.
Upon receiving the news, local authorities dispatched police and military officials in Lam Giang Commune, Van Yen District to the site to take the boy to the commune’s medical station for a health screening.
The boy’s health is currently in stable condition.
The boy went missing on August 17 after joining a group of neighbors to pick fruit on a hill behind his house.
He was somehow split from the group and got lost.
Local authorities mobilized more than 100 officials and dozens of residents to look for the boy.
They also created a search and rescue plan, as well as scoured footage from cameras along nearby roads.
