National flag carrier Vietnam Airlines’ on-time performance reached 81.8 percent in January-November, higher than the Vietnamese aviation sector’s average of 73.7 percent, according to the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam.
The carrier operated nearly 99,000 flights with some 81,000 being on time in the 11 months.
VASCO, a subsidiary of Vietnam Airlines, achieved an on-time performance of 86 percent.
According to Vietnam Airlines, it encountered great pressure in the period, including a surge in flights during the 2024 Lunar New Year and summer holidays, unfavorable weather conditions, aviation infrastructure-related issues, and the shortage of aircraft.
Therefore, the on-time performance reflects its efforts in optimizing its operation process and ensuring service quality.
Vietnam Airlines has boosted cooperation with aircraft manufacturers, expanding its fleet with Airbus A320neo and Boeing 787 to improve its transport capacity and maintain its on-time performance.

Vietnam Airlines, following directives from the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam, has made adjustments to its operations, including shortening turnaround times, optimizing aircraft utilization, and increasing flights during afternoons and evenings.
The airline has also prepared contingency plans for adverse weather conditions, such as rescheduling flights at affected airports and notifying passengers of changes via email, text messages, phone calls, its website, and social media platforms.
In April 2024, Cirium, a leading aviation analytics provider, ranked Vietnam Airlines among the top five most punctual airlines in the Asia-Pacific region.
The airline also earned a spot on Cirium's list of the top 10 most punctual carriers in the region in 2023.
