Temperatures in many localities in southern Vietnam, including Ho Chi Minh City, are forecast to plummet in the coming days, according to the Southern Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting.

A slight chill might blanket the southern metropolis as well as the southern region as a whole.

Temperatures are likely to dip to below 20 degree Celsius.

The cool weather is forecast to result from a cold spell that has a weak intensity and is spreading to the southern region, while a low-pressure trough is being pulled back to the equator.

Ho Chi Minh City might experience cool weather with temperatures at 22 degrees Celsius or lower on Monday and Tuesday.

Mercury in the city ranged from 30 to 32 degrees Celsius on Sunday.

The southern metropolis is forecast to face a mild chill at the end of January, when the 2025 Lunar New Year holiday takes place.

A wave of unseasonal rains is likely to hit the city during the period.
