The Saigon Zoo and Botanical Gardens in downtown Ho Chi Minh City has dismissed social media rumors that it feeds stray cats to crocodiles.
The zoo said it is well known that nearly 100 stray cats live at the zoo, many of which are fed by staff and visitors.
Veterinarians at the Saigon Zoo and Botanical Gardens keep a close eye on the cats to make sure they do not spread diseases to any of the other zoo animals.
Despite the care that the stray cats are given, rumors about zoo workers feed the cats to crocodiles have spread.
The zoo affirmed that the rumors were baseless.

The zoo’s management board has reported social media accounts for spreading the inaccurate information and has requested that they are handled in line with the law.
The management board called on residents to report similar rumors.
The Saigon Zoo and Botanical Gardens, established in 1864, stands as one of the eight oldest zoos in the world.
It is now home to over 2,000 animals belonging to 135 species and more than 2,500 plants.
