Southern Vietnam, including Ho Chi Minh City, is expected to enjoy a respite from the recent heatwave as a low-pressure trough has moved north and increased the chance of rainfall since Saturday, according to the Southern Regional Hydro-Meteorological Center.

From Sunday to next Thursday, the southern region is expected to experience mixed cloud cover and reduced sunshine.

Heat intensity will drop, while localized showers and thunderstorms may occur in the late afternoon and evening.

The regional weather agency said that some areas could see moderate to heavy rain, while thunderstorms may bring strong winds, lightning, and even whirlwinds.

In Ho Chi Minh City, weather conditions on Saturday are expected to vary by area.

Northern and northeastern districts such as Cu Chi, Hoc Mon, and Thu Duc City could see partly cloudy skies and sunshine during the day, followed by isolated showers and thunderstorms in the evening.

Humidity will range from 50 to 89 percent, with highs reaching 34 degrees Celsius.

Similar conditions are possible in the city center, with daytime sun and potential evening rain.

Humidity may reach 50-89 percent, with highs around 34 degrees Celsius.

Southeastern districts including Can Gio and parts of Nha Be are forecast to be partly cloudy with highs of 33 degrees Celsius and slightly higher humidity levels between 56 and 88 percent.
