4 clubs yet to register for 2013 V-League: organizer

Four football clubs have yet to register for participation in the 2013 season of the top-tier V-League as of October 25, according to league organizer, the Vietnam Professional Football (VPF). The tardy clubs are Hanoi Football Club, Khatoco Khanh Hoa, Navibank Saigon, and Hoang Anh Gia Lai (HAGL), the organizer said. VPF has also not received registration from both of the clubs owned by boss Nguyen Duc Kien, the Hanoi FC and Hanoi Juniors (First Division), head of the organizing board Tran Duy Ly told Tuoi Tre on Thursday. HAGL has failed to submit their registration form since the club’s boss, Doan Nguyen Duc, is on an overseas business trip, he said. “We don’t know whether the beleaguered Navibank Saigon has been transferred or not, but we didn’t receive its registration,” he added. Vicem Hai Phong has registered to play at the First Division, while two First Division clubs that are on the verge of dissolution, the SHB Da Nang Juniors, and Khanh Hoa Juniors, have not submitted their application either. “I don’t know if they have been dissolved due to the economic crisis or not,” said Ly. In response, Bui Xuan Hoa, chairman of SHB Da Nang, said the SHB Da Nang Juniors will continue to play in the 2013 First Division, adding that they have already submitted their registration. “The document may still be on the way to VPF,” he said. Meanwhile, Le Xuan Thong, managing director of Kien’s two clubs, said the clubs filed their registration earlier this month. As for VPF’s requirement that the registration must be signed by the club chairman, Thong said he cannot do so as Kien is still in custody. “His wife, Dang Ngoc Lan, is only a shareholder and is thus not authorized to sign on his behalf,” he explained. Kien was arrested in late August for economics wrongdoings. Ly said the clubs can still register for participation and the deadline is November 3. VPF will work with some problematic clubs such as those of boss Kien, and Navibank Saigon next week, he said.
