Portugal are now in Group E, joining Vietnam, the U.S., and the Netherlands at the upcoming 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup after winning a late ticket on Wednesday.

The Portuguese team beat their Cameroonian rivals 2-1 in the intercontinental play-offs with a successful added-time penalty in the second half to secure a slot in Group E of the Women’s World Cup, which will take place in Australia and New Zealand from July 20 to August 20.

According to the schedule, all games in the group will be organized in New Zealand.

Vietnam will take on the U.S. in Auckland on July 22, Portugal in Hamilton on July 27, and the Netherlands in Dunedin on August 1.

Overseas training

The Vietnam Football Federation announced on Wednesday that the national women’s football team will train in Japan, Germany, and New Zealand to prepare for the upcoming Women’s World Cup, also their debut at the global competition.

The first international training trip will be in Japan from April 17 to 30, with a few matches against clubs there.

The second trip will take place in Germany from June 5 to 25, during which the team will play a friendly match against Germany and two games against local clubs.

In July, the team will travel to New Zealand to get used to the climate there. 

During 11 days of training there from July 6 to 17, the team will play two friendly matches against New Zealand and Spain.

The national players are currently participating in the National Cup. 

Their first call-up will be on March 10 in preparation for the first qualifying round of the Paris Olympic Games on April 3. 

In addition to preparing for the World Cup, the team will also aim to defend its gold medal at the 2023 Southeast Asian Games in Cambodia in May.
