A documentary showcasing the journey of the Vietnamese national women’s football team as they prepare for their historic debut at the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup will be collaboratively produced by the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) and film production company Viewfinder.

The ‘Vietnam, Where are you?’ movie is scheduled for release on October 20, coinciding with the celebration of Vietnamese Women’s Day, Viewfinder announced at a press conference held in Ho Chi Minh City on Friday.

Nguyen Thi Tham, the director behind the pioneering documentary featuring the Vietnam women’s football team, drew inspiration from the group stage draw of the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup held in Auckland, New Zealand on October 22, 2022, when the mention of Vietnam’s name sparked her vision.

With a duration of 45 minutes, the documentary will intricately portray real individuals and events through a captivating narrative, showcasing the empowering combination of strength and femininity exhibited by the talented Vietnamese female players both on and off the football field.

The 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup, scheduled to take place in Australia and New Zealand from July 20 to August 20, marks Vietnam’s debut at the global association football competition.

Vietnam have been drawn in Group E alongside defending champions the U.S., reigning runners-up the Netherlands, and Portugal.

They will kick off their 2023 Women’s World Cup campaign against the U.S. on July 22 at 1:00 pm (local time) in Auckland.

Vietnam will then play Portugal on July 27, followed by the Netherlands on August 1.

In preparation for the tournament, the team, led by their head coach Mai Duc Chung, is currently undergoing training in Germany, where they had their second victorious friendly game on Friday morning (Vietnam time) against the TSV Schott Mainz football club.

Five days ago, the team secured a remarkable 2-0 triumph over Eintracht Frankfurt, a formidable club that claimed the third position in the Frauen-Bundesliga, the top level of league competition for women’s association football in Germany, during the previous season.
