Hundreds of citizens and tourists crowded Saigon River Park in the Thu Thiem New Urban Area for entertainment and enjoyment on Saturday afternoon, right before New Year, as the park has emerged as a new engrossing destination in Ho Chi Minh City.

The park was put into operation on Saturday last week to house revelers on Christmas and New Year holidays.

Featuring a picturesque field of blooming sunflowers, the park, located specifically in Thu Duc City, is festooned with various miniatures, making it more appealing to visitors.

According to a Tuoi Tre (Youth) newspaper reporter’s observation, large groups of residents and travelers gathered at the park on Saturday afternoon and night to partake in the festive atmosphere and appreciate the city's beauty at the new venue.

Bao Tran, 20, and her friends traveled to the park from neighboring Dong Nai Province for over one hour.

"Over the past week, I've come across numerous review clips about the brand new park, so I convinced my friends to check it out," Tran shared.

"While strolling through the park, I quickly understood its allure.

"The expansive space, fresh air, and various miniatures designed for photo opportunities and selfies truly surprised me."

The park, built at a cost of nearly VND90 billion (US$3.7 million), features a sunflower field, a community residential zone, a versatile community square, parking facilities, restrooms, a stone park, an ecological park, a floating raft system for aquatic plants, a fountain, a designated area for fireworks, and the installation of LED systems for advertising.
