A drone light show will be conducted for the first time in Ha Long Bay, a UNESCO World Heritage Site in northern Vietnam’s Quang Ninh Province, as part of the Carnaval Ha Long 2024 program which is expected to take place on April 30 or June 1, according to the provincial authorities.
The yearly carnival, featuring music, processions, and dancing, is scheduled to take place on the beach at Dai Duong Park in Ha Long City, within the province.
The event will involve 1,200 actors, including both professionals and amateurs, and will also feature numerous tourist boats in the vicinity.
The highlight of this year’s carnival will be a drone light show that will be held for the first time in Ha Long Bay, which was twice recognized by the UNESCO as a World Natural Heritage Site in 1994 and 2020, the provincical administration said recently.
The drone show, of which relevant details have yet to be announced, will be launched along with a fireworks display, music, dancing, and other attractive programs of the carnival, which is included in the province’s 2024 tourism promotion plan.
The drone light show has been planned for the Carnaval Ha Long 2024 following the successful performance of the same event held on February 7 in Hanoi, where 2,024 multicolor drones were used to form different images and words highlighting the capital’s attractive destinations as well as celebrating Tet, or the Lunar New Year festival, which was three days later.
As an annual event since 2007, Carnaval Ha Long has long been a unique and appealing cultural and tourism brand of Quang Ninh, becoming a familiar and favorite venue for locals as well as domestic and foreign travelers.
The upcoming carnival is one of Quang Ninh's nearly 200 activities to attract 17 million travelers, including three million international visitors, and generate a tourism revenue of VND39.1 trillion (US$1.58 billion) in 2024, according to the provincial administration.
It is expected that Ha Long will welcome some 70 international ships with about 140,000 tourists this year, local authorities added.
