Supported by the Institute of Cultural Exchange with France (IDECAF), the French Institute in Vietnam is hosting a unique exhibition titled 'Color Box,' featuring a captivating fusion by visual artist Mathilde Hess and pianist Raphael Eligoulachvili.
As visitors step into the exhibition space, they are immediately immersed in a world of floating kites, which vary in shape and size and are adorned with dots of different colors.
Hess has masterfully blended her intricate, dot-painted kites with the mesmerizing piano music of Raphael Eligoulachvili, creating an enchanting sensory experience that captivates both sight and sound.
For months, she has been meticulously creating four kites a day, each with her signature dot-style painting.
Upon arriving in Vietnam, she began incorporating vibrant colors into her oeuvre.
She cut and assembled these paper sculptures, transforming them into dynamic pieces of art that were then suspended from the ceiling and brought to life through the harmonies composed by Eligoulachvili.

Speaking with Tuoi Tre News, Hess explained that each dot on the kites symbolizes a wish.
"I hope these wishes will soar and come true," she added.
In the colorful ambiance of the gallery, the live piano melodies performed by Raphael Eligoulachvili elevate the experience, plunging attendees into a dreamlike world reminiscent of films by Japan’s Studio Ghibli, which is known for their iconic movies, artistic style, and global impact on animation.
The 'Color Box' installation is part of the Villa Saigon program, which supports artists or artist collectives with French nationality or residency who are working in contemporary art across various disciplines.
The program is aimed at fostering and enhancing artistic dialogue between France and Vietnam.
The exhibition is open to the public for free until September 14 at IDECAF at 28 Le Thanh Ton Street, Ben Nghe Ward, District 1.
