How Ho Chi Minh City dwellers counter blazing weather

Sunday, May 15, 2016, 15:06 GMT+7

As intensive heat waves keep baking Ho Chi Minh City at about 40 degrees Celsius at noon, local citizens have found various ways to shelter from the blazing weather when going outside.

Having coats and other garments completely cover themselves is a typical dressing habit of people in the city when traveling on streets this month.

Le Thi Nghia, a coat seller on Dien Bien Phu Street, Binh Thanh District, said, “It is so hot that men also buy coats, gloves and face masks to counter the heat.”

“Some even conceal themselves in coats usually worn by women as they can cover more parts of the body.”

Many also look for shady spots to wait for the traffic lights under the scorching sunlight.

To the homeless, parks and roads lined with trees become sheltering places for them in daytime.
