Japanese enterprises to invest in Vietnam’s support industry

Business representatives from Japan’s Ehime province say they are seeking partners in Vietnam in the machinery manufacturing and hi-tech agriculture sector at a seminar on support industry links between Ehime Prefecture and Ho Chi Minh City.

The conference was organized by Japan’s Esuhai Company in collaboration with the Central Ehime Prefecture Business Association on January 14, featuring representatives of 36 enterprises from the Ehime province.

Nakamura Tokihiro, the governor of Ehime, was quoted as saying that in addition to some 10 Japanese companies which currently invest in Vietnam; other businesses in the paper and heavy industry also wish to promote cooperation with the country.

According to Kazunobu Sato, director of an electric vehicles research center in Ehime, his team has the technology to make gasoline-powered vehicles run on electricity.  

“We want to bring this technology to Vietnam, hoping to find Vietnamese enterprises which can produce equipment and contribute to the production line of the electric vehicles,” he added.
