The school just obtained the license on the very day of incident
A newly-opened preschool in the north-central Vietnamese province of Nghe An was suspended, while one of its contracted teachers was fired, after footage showing a boy being repeatedly beaten in class was posted online.
The video, going viral on social media on Thursday, shows a teacher holding a boy tightly between her legs and repeatedly hitting him, apparently because he refused to obey her order.
The child managed to run away from the teacher, but was held back shortly thereafter and suffered another beating.
The video was verified as CCTV footage recorded inside a classroom of the ABC Montessori Preschool in Le Loi Ward in Vinh, the capital of Nghe An, involving the 25-year-old teacher, referred to only as N.T.H., and a 20-month-old student.
The school has been ordered to suspend its operations, Thai Giap Vinh, chairman of Le Loi Ward, confirmed to Tuoi Tre (Youth) newspaper on Friday.
H. also admitted wrongdoings on Friday, calling it an “immature act,” as she lost her temper at the time.
H. was contracted to teach music and dance at ABC Montessori Preschool, and had her contract terminated following the incident.
Another female teacher who witnessed H. beating the student but did nothing to stop her has also been suspended from work.
The beaten child is not hurt, both physically and mentally.
ABC Montessori Preschool had received some 40 students for more than a month before receiving its official license on April 19, the very day the incident took place.
