As one of top 20 wealthiest people on the Vietnamese stock market, with an estimated fortune of more than VND1.9 trillion ($91.2 million), Kien, who was arrested on Monday for allegedly conducting illegal business, is rich enough to indulge in luxury hobbies like owning a sumptuous villa in Hanoi, traveling in luxurious cars and attending big concerts.

The three-storey, 500 square meter villa is located on Xuan Dieu Street, Quang An ward in Tay Ho (West Lake) district, and is just one of Kien’s properties. It is also his primary residential home.

The property prices in West Lake area are at par with some of the highest real estate prices in the world.

A real estate expert said the West Lake area is considered the most expensive land in the capital with the cost of property per square metre is not lower than US$40.000.

Meanwhile, some of the most luxurious car models in the world, like the Rolls Royce Phantom, with a hand-painted golden dragon, or the Bentley Continental Flying Spur are present in Kien’s garage.

It is believed that Kien spent around US$500,000, including tax, on the Bently, and more than VND40 billion ($1.9 million) for the special Rolls Royce edition, although the model’s factory price is set at $1.2 million.

Kien also has a burning passion for football. Besides owning the Hanoi ACB football team, Kien is deputy chairman of the Vietnam Professional Football company (VPF) that now organizes the country’s top-flight V-League and the First Division.

Kien and his wife, Dang Ngoc Lan, are also dedicated fans of well-known local pop divas like Thanh Lam, My Linh, and famous male singer Tuan Ngoc.
