VN’s 2012 e-commerce sales reach $700 mln

The total revenues of local e-commerce deals in 2012 was VND7 trillion ($354 million), according to a recent survey on 47 e-commerce exchange centers having registered with an agency under The Ministry of Industry and Trade.

The total value of Vietnamese e-commerce market has reached $700 million, and is expected to reach $1.3 billion by 2015, said Vietnam E-commerce and Information Technology Agency (VECITA).

The survey, conducted by VECITA, also said the number of non-cash payment reduced to 11.8 percent in 2012.

In specific, bank card payment accounted for only 0.2 percent of the total value of non-cash payment during the same period. As of June 2012, there were 47.2 million bank cards released locally.
