Vietnam’s state-owned telecoms giant VNPT has officially launched VNPT eKYC, a user identity verification software as a service (SaaS).

eKYC (Electronic Know Your Customer) is a remote, paperless process wherein the identity and address of subscribers are verified electronically, without them going to a bricks-and-mortar place.

VNPT eKYC provides four main features, including fraud check, document authentication, portrait authentication, and unsatisfactory paper detection.

Other additional features include video customer identification process (V-CIP), screen capture, GPS navigation, and video call recording.

The software is developed based on artificial intelligence (AI), blockchain technology, biometric authentication, and SDK (software development kit) — four of the most advanced technologies in the world, VNPT said.

The application of AI technology helps to tell counterfeit documents from authentic ones, prevent fake portraits, and improve safety and accuracy, while the use of blockchain technology is meant to help store and verify data in a highly secured manner.

The software’s integrated biometric recognition system can ensure high accuracy and its built-in SDK supports both iOS and Android platforms.

VNPT says its eKYC solution can be integrated into target systems in just a few hours.

“The VNPT eKYC solution system will help financial institutions and banks save time and costs, as well as improving accuracy compared to the manual method of observing documents and actual customer portraits with the naked eyes,” said a VNPT spokesperson.

Before its official debut, VNDPT eKYC had been rolled out to VNPT’s many business customers operating in the banking, network communications, fintech, and e-commerce sectors since the beginning of September.

VNPT eKYC has also been conferred several awards, such as the third prize at the 2019 Vietnamese Talent Awards, the 2020 Sao Khue Award, and a Bronze Stevie at the 2020 Stevie Awards.
