Vietnamese conglomerate Vingroup on Tuesday announced that it had signed a memorandum of understanding with Intel Corporation to develop a wide range of advanced computing systems.
Under the MoU, five major areas of the cooperation include 5G-enabled smart city solutions, smart manufacturing processes, multi-cloud strategies, artificial intelligence, and advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS).
The deal is expected to see Vingroup and Intel jointly evaluate the potential of developing solutions for 5G-enabled smart cities and smart buildings, as well as various smart cities of Vinhomes -- Vingroup's housing development unit.
Both sides will also cooperate to build and deploy Internet of Things (IoT) smart factory solutions for the VinES battery manufacturing factory and VinFast automobile manufacturing facility.
Le Thi Thu Thuy, vice-chairwoman of Vingroup, said that it has always been a pioneer in bringing consumers smart products and services integrated with world-class technologies, advanced features, and outstanding experiences to improve their lives.
Vingroup recently adjusted its orientation and redefined three key groups of activities, namely technology and industry, trade and services, and social enterprise. To develop the technology and industry group, it focuses on two main strategies, namely building Vingroup's technology ecosystem and connecting global intelligence; and cooperating with the world's leading technology partners to accelerate the application of the most advanced and new technologies to Vingroup's products and services.
Meanwhile, Pat Gelsinger, Intel CEO, said the company has the depth and breadth of software, silicon and platforms, and process with at-scale manufacturing its partners' need for their next-generation innovations.
“This collaboration with Vingroup can help deliver needed technology innovations for safer roads, more sustainable manufacturing, and smarter cities," Gelsinger said.
