The launch of the Cashless Ride, an activity to mark the 2022 Cashless Day, was organized at the Dong Kinh Nghia Thuc Square in Hanoi on Sunday morning.

The ceremony saw the attendance of Pham Thanh Ha, deputy governor of the State Bank of Vietnam, Nguyen Tuong Lam, secretary of the Central Committee of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union, representatives of sponsors and partners, and a large number of local residents.

As part of the Cashless Ride, local banks and technology firms will provide customers with the opportunity to experience the latest payment technologies such as NFC contactless payment, Tap2phone, and QR code payment, among others.

People who take part in the event will be able to receive various gifts, vouchers, and discounts.

The Cashless Ride is one of the activities within the framework of this year’s Cashless Day. The day has been marked annually on June 16 since 2019 by Tuoi Tre (Youth) newspaper and the State Bank of Vietnam.

This is the first time the Cashless Ride has been organized, Le Xuan Trung – deputy editor-in-chief of Tuoi Tre, said at the ceremony, adding that the ride is set to start in Hanoi and finish in Ho Chi Minh City.

The activity will help people in the suburbs and rural areas to experience cashless payment when shopping for household products, Trung continued.

Following the ceremony, residents in Hanoi participated in multiple mini-games and contests to experience cashless payment services offered by local businesses and win various prizes.

Similar events will be held in central Da Nang City on June 26 and in Ho Chi Minh City on July 3.
