Mai Wedding, a major wedding studio in central Vietnam, reopened its headquarters in Da Nang City on Monday after suddenly closing all branches last week, promising that it will ensure the interests of customers.

Nguyen Thi Tuyet Mai, general director of Bao Mai Anh Service and Trading Company, which owns Mai Wedding, confirmed the temporary closure of the studio to Tuoi Tre (Youth) newspaper on Monday.

After more than two years of the COVID-19 pandemic, the operation of the chain store was relatively difficult, Mai elaborated.

She added that her relatives had failed to raise capital for external business investment, leaving behind large debts and putting pressure on the operation of the company.

The activities at Mai Wedding’s branches have been quite good, but all of the revenue has been used to pay back loans.

On October 10, many creditors came to the studio and demand a large amount of money, which also coincided with the day when Mai Wedding paid monthly salaries to employees.

Unable to pay up all the debts, Mai and her family had to temporarily move to Ho Chi Minh City to ensure their safety, resulting in the shutdown of the wedding studio.

Many customers were worried after hearing about the sudden closure of Mai Wedding, with many couples having to seek another service provider as their wedding days were approaching.

After reopening on Monday, Mai Wedding announced that customers who had to use services of other studios would receive a refund.

Regarding other customers who still have contracts with Mai Wedding, the studio will take measures to ensure their interests as well as offer them preferential gifts.

The studio also extended its apology to all customers who were affected by the shutdown.

With regard to the late payment of salary at six of Mai Wedding’s branches, the studio stated that it would pay part of the salary on Tuesday so that its employees could return to work.

Mai Wedding is the largest wedding photography service in Da Nang, with multiple branches and stores in other central provinces such as Thua Thien Hue, Quang Tri, and Quang Binh. 

The services of Mai Wedding are considered high-end and often very costly.
