An ongoing COVID-19 outbreak at Apple Inc's largest factory in China is affecting the entire supply chain of the iPhone 14 series, especially the iPhone 14 Pro Max model in the Vietnamese market.
The supply of iPhone 14 products, especially the iPhone 14 Pro Max, in Vietnam is showing signs of scarcity, according to a survey by Tuoi Tre (Youth) newspaper on Tuesday.
The 24hStore chain reported that the iPhone 14 Pro Max 256GB Deep Purple is the scarcest version.
The delivery of the iPhone 14 Pro model is also sluggish as many products have not yet reached customers.
The Di Dong Viet store chain is facing a shortage of products as well.
The number of iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max products at the store chain only meets about 20 percent of customers’ demand, given the strong purchasing power in the final months of the year, a representative of Di Dong Viet said.
“Customers who wish to have a new phone on this occasion should choose the iPhone 14 and 14 Plus models, or the iPhone 13 series and iPhone 11 series, which are being offered at very good prices,” he continued.
Nguyen Huu Phuc, sales manager of Minh Tuan Mobile, said that distributors have delayed delivery to agents and retailers, and there are no detailed plans or schedules for the next delivery.
The shortage of supply, especially the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max models, right before the peak season at the end of the year will definitely affect the sales of local stores, Phuc continued.
CellphoneS said that it has not fulfilled about 30 percent of orders, which are mainly iPhone 14 Pro Max products.
The current inventory can only ensure sales for the next three to five weeks.
CellphoneS expected a 50-60 percent drop in revenue as there is no plan for distribution of the iPhone 14 Pro Max model in December and January.
Major chains such as FPT Shop and The Gioi Di Dong said they can still meet the demand of buyers in the coming time.
“FPT Shop imports goods directly from Apple, so we don’t have to depend on distributors,” a representative stated.
A representative of The Gioi Di Dong said the chain will deliver products to all customers prior to November 30.
The Gioi Di Dong had ordered a large number of products in advance and would be able to meet the needs of customers during the year-end period.
