Da Nang City, a popular beach destination in central Vietnam, looks to welcome 8.4 million tourist arrivals, including 2.5 million international visitors, and earn over VND30.8 trillion (US$1.2 billion) in tourism revenue in 2024.

These targets were announced in a conference chaired by the municipal Department of Tourism on Wednesday to discuss the city’s tourism development strategies for next year.

The department said the city’s master zoning plan for the 2021-30 period, with a vision toward 2050 had been approved, thereby paving the way for the development of more key projects and high-quality travel products.

The central coastal city gave the green light to the pilot launch of another pedestrian street and night-time tourism activities organized along the Nguyen Van Troi Bridge, among several other services to boost local tourism.

To fulfill its goal of serving the said number of visitors, the municipal tourism authority will also keep adopting policies to promote MICE (meetings, incentives, conferences, and exhibitions), golf, and wedding tourism by launching tourist sites, wedding services, and venues of various segments to cater to different types of tourists at home and overseas.

The city will also ramp up efforts to restore regular international air routes linking it with China, North America, Europe, while considering the launch of new air links to Asian destinations in Indonesia, India, Japan, Thailand, and South Korea.

Visitors to this central Vietnamese city next year should not miss out on a wide range of festive occasions like ‘Wow Da Nang’ slated for June, ‘BRG Danang Championship 2024’ scheduled between August 26 and September 2, and the Wedding Tourism Week.

Earlier at the conference, the tourism authority reviewed the outcomes of its performance in 2023.

Accordingly, the city has served an estimated 7.39 million visitor arrivals this year, up twofold year on year, with 1.98 million of them being international visitors.

Its tourism turnover is expected to reach nearly VND28 trillion ($1.1 billion), improving 44 percent versus last year.

Products and services in terms of beach and MICE tourism continued to be favored by tourists, particularly wealthy vacationers.

The city has so far welcomed around 46,000 visitors from 163 MICE delegations, with 95 overseas delegations from India, Malaysia, Taiwan, Spain, and France, while serving roughly 30,000 other visitors who came to Da Nang for wedding events held at premium hotels and resorts.
