The Indian government will provide 150 scholarships to study short-term and graduate courses in India to Vietnam under a technical and economic program next year, the Indian Consulate General in Ho Chi Minh City has said.

These grants will be given as part of the Indian Technical and Economic Cooperation Program (ITEC), sponsored by the Indian government.

Scholarship winners will be enrolled in short-term courses lasting less than one year or graduate programs running for one to two years, according to the consulate’s website.

Successful candidates will be supplied with airfare, tuition, accommodations, and other allowances.

Applicable disciplines include English, information technology, journalism, telecommunications, management, rural development, energy, water resource development, and labor administration.

Applicants, aged 25 to 45, must be working for government agencies, public and private sectors, universities, and chambers of commerce and industry, and have at least five years of work experience.

The consulate will organize an “ITEC Day” on Friday from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at 55 Nguyen Dinh Chieu Street, District 3, Ho Chi Minh City.

Those who have received ITEC scholarships are invited to the event.

ITEC is a bilateral assistance program that focuses on addressing the needs of developing countries through innovative technological cooperation between India and the partnering nation.

It has spent over US$2 billion benefiting students and professionals worldwide since its inception in 1964.

The program’s annual expenditure has averaged $100 million per annum in recent years.
