A Vietnamese junior has created a website program which allows users to produce and take a multiple-choice test conveniently.

Tungtung.vn is the project straddling technology and education realized by a group of young people led by Phan Thanh Tung, a third-year student at the University of Science in Ho Chi Minh City.

The product brought the group the second prize at Start-up Student Ideas 2017, a competition of original ideas by students from universities and colleges across Vietnam.

Tungtung.vn is not a source that generates content, but a platform where teachers or educational institutions can unleash examination papers accessible to students in a convenient and rapid fashion, Tung said.

Unlike other online educational platforms in Vietnam, Tungtung places an exclusive focus on multiple-choice tests.

To fulfill this purpose, the creators embed in Tungtung a feature capable of converting pdf- and docx-format files into the above style of test.

Users can choose “Create test” and click the ‘Download pdf, docx file’ button and wait about five minutes for the transformation.

The website also enables test-maker teachers to manage their class with ease and visibility, thanks to its functions of controlling test-taking time, scores and student progress over weeks or even days.

Results of the exam, possibly accompanied by indication of mistakes, are provided immediately after the answers are submitted.

In the future, charging a cost on Tungtung.vn is expected to be more student-friendly with the introduction of various payment methods, such as those on Google Play.

Tung said the fee-charging quality helps sharpen Vietnamese people’s awareness of paying for copyrighted products.

His website has been hailed with praise.

Thuy Hang, a teacher using the platform, said designing a test on Tungtung saves a great deal of time and requires little effort, while student users can improve their logical thinking.

Tung has aspired to bring about an important change since he was a child.

He considers himself fortunate to get to know the Internet world at eight, when he first used computers.

In high school, he identified his ambition: creating a revolution in Vietnam’s education in order to effectively apply technology to teaching, modify instructional methods, bolster students’ confidence and help them shape their dreams and life purposes.

“The inspirational message coming from Thanh Tung is you should find your own ambition, strengths and weaknesses to develop yourself to the fullest,” said Anh Nhat, a student who once worked with Tung.
