More than 80 students of different levels in the central Vietnamese city of Da Nang had the chance to experience a fire drill first-hand during a special training session on Wednesday.

The program was organized by the Con Rong Chieu Tien Training - Consulting Center, in cooperation with the Da Nang firefighting department, to educate local children on basic evacuation skills.

During Wednesday’s drill, the students received instructions relevant to their age groups, such as unplugging electrical devices when they are unused, detecting smell and smoke, sending alerts, and running for safety when a fire breaks out.

According to Huynh Ba Dang, an officer from the Da Nang firefighting department, children should only be taught simple fire escape skills that they can easily remember for use in case of real incidents.

After the lesson, the young participants experienced evacuation operations including getting out of a burning three-story building, giving immediate assistance and first aid during fire disasters, and rescuing other victims.
