Over 70 leading industry scientists and researchers from 17 countries discussed a wide range of topics regarding infectious disease modeling as part of the MIDSEA Summer School, Workshop, Symposium organized in Binh Dinh Province, south-central Vietnam on Monday.
Taking place from June 19 to 29, the MIDSEA Summer School, Workshop, Symposium is co-hosted by the scientific and educational organization ‘Rencontres du Vietnam’ (Meeting Vietnam), the International Center for Interdisciplinary Science and Education (ICISE), and the MIDSEA Network.
The MIDSEA Network, comprising specialists working in the area of modeling infectious diseases in Southeast Asia, serves as a platform that brings leading industry experts together to exchange their ideas about this field.
Their studies are expected to make contributions to controlling disease outbreaks in Southeast Asia and across the region in the upcoming time.
Professor Tran Thanh Van, chairman of the 'Rencontres du Vietnam,' said that the event provided participants with basic to advanced knowledge about infectious disease modeling, as well as with opportunities to network with other modelers of different experience levels.
Professor Alexander Richard Cook, vice dean at Saw Swee Hock School of Public Health under the National University of Singapore, spoke highly of the organization of the MIDSEA Summer School, Workshop, Symposium at ICISE, located in the provincial capital city of Quy Nhon.
The event will enable young researchers in Southeast Asia to share and exchange knowledge on their research journey, Cook said.
