The quick response of local authorities and firefighters saved the lives of eight people trapped inside a bakery on Nguyen Thai Hoc Street in District 1, Ho Chi Minh City after a massive fire erupted there early Monday morning.

At around 4:30 am, flames broke out at the bakery in Cau Ong Lanh Ward, panicking nearby residents.

Many attempted to extinguish the fire, but the blaze quickly spread with thick smoke rising from the building, making it difficult to contain.

After being notified of the flames, firefighters immediately approached the scene, intensifying efforts to rescue eight people trapped inside the bakery.

They used a ladder truck and rescue gear to reach the second story, where the victims were stranded.

Many firefighters accessed the roof to break windows and doors, allowing them to rescue the trapped victims.

The eight people were safely transported to Saigon General Hospital and 115 People’s Hospital for treatment.

The fire destroyed the bakery's production area on the ground floor and a bedroom on the second floor.

Police are continuing to investigate the cause of the fire.
