Every spring, when the weather in central Vietnam’s Da Nang City turns chilly, Nam O Beach in Lien Chieu District transforms into a breathtaking landscape as green moss begins to blanket the rocky seafloor.
Situated 17 kilometers northwest of the city center, Nam O Beach is famous for its pristine sands and tranquil charm.
Underwater rocks just off the coast transform the area into a majestic sea of green literally as they become blanketed in moss.
As the tide withdraws, these rocks breach the water’s surface.

According to some local residents, the moss on Nam O Beach is most abundant in February and March, making it the ideal time for visitors to enjoy the beach.
To fully admire the beauty of the moss beach, tourists should visit during low tide early in the morning or late in the afternoon.
Nguyen Thi Thuy Lai, a student from the University of Da Nang - University of Science and Education, recently visited Nam O beach with her friends.
“The scenery [at Nam O Beach] is truly stunning. We are trying to take as many photos as we can before the sun sets,” she said.
Nguyen Trung Hieu, a visitor from Quang Binh Province, north-central Vietnam, shared that he was fortunate to visit Da Nang during peak moss season.
“The waves crashing against the moss-covered rocks paired with the sunset make for incredible photos,” Hieu, a photography enthusiast, excitedly said.
Green moss season on Nam O Beach lasts for just over a month, and its mystical beauty makes it a must-visit spot for tourists traveling to Da Nang in the spring.
