Singapore Management University (SMU) launched an online sustainable development and finance training program in Vietnam on Friday to help business leaders and managers enhance their sustainable management skills.
The foundational course, consisting of three main modules, requires no prior knowledge and is designed for those interested in sustainable development trends and their impact on economics and finance.
The first covers sustainability challenges and their impacts on business and finance, addressing climate change, biodiversity, and natural capital.
The second module focuses on sustainability risk management, capital classification frameworks, and sustainability reporting, offering guidance on risk management for financial institutions and the implementation of climate policy frameworks.
The final module explores sustainable finance, covering green finance, carbon markets, sustainable debt, and transformational finance.
Delivered via a massive open online course (MOOC) platform, the program offers a flexible learning approach combining videos, animations, expert interviews, and assessments.

Upon completing the three modules, participants will receive an electronic certificate from SMU, enhancing their credentials in sustainable finance.
The course fee will be sponsored by the Singapore Global Network for the first batch of students in Vietnam.
SMU, ranked 44th globally and third in Singapore in business and management according to the QS 2024 rankings, opened a representative office in Ho Chi Minh City in 2024.
At the launch, SMU President Professor Lily Kong highlighted the strong growth potential of the Vietnamese economy and the strategic role of Ho Chi Minh City as the nation’s economic and financial hub, supporting innovation, sustainable development, and digital transformation.
