On June 29, the young rock band Parasite, from Ho Chi Minh City, won the 2013 Tiger Translate - Battle of the Bands, a competition for young rock bands across the country held in Hanoi.

The finales gathered six of best local rock bands, including 18+, Dong Do, Bui Gio, Hemelians, Hac San and Parasite. Besides the VND100million (US$4,754 ) cash prize, Parasite will have the chance to play on stage with Italian gothic metal band Lacuna Coil at the Tiger International Event concert to be held in Ho Chi Minh City on July 20.

Formed in 2011, Parasite consists of female vocalist Nguyen Quynh Anh, guitarists Than Trong Nghia and Tran Phuong Huy, and bass player Vo Phan Hoang Gia. The band has performed at many rock events and is a familiar name with local fans.

First launched last year, Tiger Translate - Battle of the Bands has drawn attention from rock lovers and become an attractive playground for local rock bands in the country.
