Ho Chi Minh City’s dancing troupe Arabesque and Hanoi’s Tri Minh’s Quartet have recently been chosen to perform in America next year for the Center Stage program.

The selection was made following a trip to Vietnam by a group of Center Stage’s arts experts in March.

From June to December 2014, the Vietnamese artist will join other selected groups from Morocco and Pakistan to bring their art to American audiences. During the tour, the artists will perform, interact, and begin meaningful dialogues with Americans.

Arabesque will perform their show titled “The Mist,” a sweeping contemporary dance show featuring life in rural Vietnam while Tri Minh’s Quartet will showcase their sophisticated performance combining electronic music, acoustic instruments, and Vietnamese motifs and structures.

Initiated by the US Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs and produced by the New England Foundation of the Arts, the Center Stage program aims to help build mutual understanding via cultural expression and people to people connections. It uses the performing arts to support cultural understanding between American and international communities; participating artists experience the US first hand and cultivate lasting relationships.
