A concert set to take place in Hanoi tonight, September 4, will showcase performances on a violin with strings made from real hair.

With melodious and fiery musical works, “Hair Sonata,” to be held tonight at 8:00 pm at the Hanoi Opera House, 1 Trang Tien, Hoan Kiem District, is designed to accentuate women’s charm, and depict their wide spectrum of emotions.

Young violinist Khanh Linh will perform famous works on the hair-stringed violin.

The concert is the brainchild of local composer Quoc Trung, considered a pioneer of world music in Vietnam.

The event, to be conducted by Le Phi Phi, will showcase the blend of classical and electronic music.

Celebrated Vietnamese singers such as Thanh Lam, Hong Nhung, and Hoang Quyen, the runner up of Vietnam Idol 2012, will also perform alongside an orchestra.
