Contemporary dance play to feature live music in southern Vietnam comeback

Contemporary dance play to feature live music in southern Vietnam comeback

Sunday, September 14, 2014, 09:23 GMT+7

The new version of a contemporary dance play which tells a pastoral Vietnamese tale will feature live music in its Ho Chi Minh City performances in September and October 2014.

The dance play – “Suong Som” (The Mist) – directed by art director Tan Loc was warmly embraced in 2011 and 2012, and was also staged in some countries, including South Korea.

In its comeback performances at Municipal Theater at 8:00 pm on September 15 and 18, and October 15 and 16, the play will be accompanied by folk melodies remixed on electric musical instruments.

The play will retain its richly expressive contemporary dance language, light and stage effects and interaction with audience members, which made it a resounding success in 2011 and 2012.

Its duration will also be shortened to 60 minutes from the previous 75 minutes.

Director Tan Loc now plans to stage the play in HCMC four times every month, starting January next year.
