The 14th Vietnam Poetry Day was held in the capital city of Hanoi on Monday with a series of poetic activities.
The event is annually organized by the Vietnam Writers Association on the 15th day of the first lunar month to honor poetic achievements.
This year, the event took place at the Temple of Literature, which was decorated with hundreds of Vietnamese conical hats, aiming to bring poetry lovers beautiful feelings.
The main activity of the event was showcasing poems under the themes of seas, islands, frontiers, spring, the country and love by renowned Vietnamese poets, including Tran Dang Khoa, Anh Ngoc, Nguyen Viet Chien, Hoang Nhuan Cam, Do Bach Mai, Pham Ho Thu, Nguyen Thi Mai and Nguyen Thi Ngoc Ha.
Children’s poetry was featured in this year’s Vietnam Poetry Day for the first time.
With the participation of around 26 children’s poetry clubs, the event showcased poetic works of the little authors besides those by famous poets.
Poems were also read by the children in traditional ways, as well as being mixed with music and illustrated with dance moves.
Besides the poetic activities, the event also included an exhibition honoring poets well known during the resistance war against the French colonialists.
According to the organizers, during the past years, the event has left a nice impression on international friends.
The 2016 event also welcomed French André Velter and Belgian Jean-Pierre Orban from the European Union delegation in Vietnam, as well as representatives from the embassies of European Union member countries.
On Sunday, the European Union delegation in Vietnam held a seminar within the framework of the Vietnam Poetry Day at the French Institute in Hanoi.
