The organizers of Miss Vietnam 2016 have removed one contestant and admonished another for violating pageant rules.

Nguyen Thi Thanh and Tran Thi Thuy Trang were discovered having cosmetic dental treatments at a recent anthropometric test to prepare for the final gala.

The discovery of the dental treatments was found to be a direct violation of Miss Vietnam’s traditional rule, the requirement that applicants must have natural beauty, the organizers said Wednesday in a statement.

Thanh, 20, was removed from the contest for having eight ceramic teeth.

The beauty explained she had previously suffered an accident that broke three of her teeth and left five others loose.

Thanh went to a medical center, where it had been suggested that she use cosmetic treatment to fix the teeth.

The organizers attempted to verify Thanh’s explanation and concluded that no documents related to the contestant’s ‘serious’ accident were found at the medical centers which she said had suggested the treatment.

The cosmetic dentistry resulted in the beauty being removed from the Miss Vietnam 2016 contest, currently in its final round.

Meanwhile, Tran Thi Thuy Trang, 19, was found to have asked a dentist to perform dental bonding, a cosmetic dentistry procedure meant to improve the teeth’s whiteness by using composite resin.

The request violated the pageant’s rule, the organizers said.

However, the beauty was only admonished as the composite cover can be removed.

There will be 35 contestants taking part in the Miss Vietnam 2016 finale, held on August 28 in Ho Chi Minh City.

The champion will be crowned and presented with VND500 million (US$22,435) while first and second runners-up will receive VND300 million ($13,461) and VND200 million ($8,974), respectively.

Alongside the major awards, winners will also be announced in different categories, including Miss Talent, Miss Beach, Miss Ao Dai, Miss Beautiful Face, Most Voted Miss, Miss Party Dress, Miss Beautiful Hair, and Miss Humanity.

Miss Vietnam is a biennial beauty contest for young women, ages 18 to 27, that aims to seek out a Vietnamese woman with natural beauty, charm, and friendliness.
